We Are Wolf Country Radio

The Wolf (WLOH - Lancaster) has a long and proud history of local ownership, beginning with its founding in 1948 by three local physicians. The original 1320 AM signal, which is still in operation, first went on the air at 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 9, 1948.

Since 2005, WLOH has been licensed to and operated by WLOH Radio Company, a privately-held company owned by Mark and Arlene Bohach, of Lancaster.

For much of the station’s life, talk radio was the name of the game on the original 1320 AM signal. In March 2010, the 104.5 FM signal was added and was shortly followed by the 99.3 FM signal in Logan in 2011.

In 2011, WLOH was named “Small Business of the Year” by the Lancaster Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce.

On Jan. 30, 2015, WLOH would become the Hocking Valley’s home for the best country variety, switching formats and carrying the best in both current and classic country music.

On Oct. 8, 2018, The Wolf launched its third FM frequency - 102.9 FM - located on a tower high above New Lexington, serving the residents of Perry County. The launch was timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the station’s original 1320 AM signal. This is a 100% simulcast of our signals in Fairfield and Hocking Counties, as required by the FCC.

The station would expand once more in the summer of 2022 by adding a fourth FM frequency to its lineup, 101.9 FM in Circleville. This fourth channel nearly doubled The Wolf’s total footprint, broadcasting across Pickaway County and into northern Ross County, including the communities of Circleville, Chillicothe, Kingston, Ashville, and Williamsport, among others.
